Female Circumcision in Context

There is a great deal of heated debate and rhetoric about what the United Nations and Feminist groups call "female genital mutilation". While we may agree as to the danger of infection following the ritual, the custom is nearly impossible to eradicate because it is deeply rooted in religious sentiment and is intregal to the Afro-Asiatic worldview.
