RAWALPINDI, Nov 2: Thirty-five people were killed and 65 others injured when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a branch of the National Bank here on Monday. Most of those who died in the attack were serving or retired civil and military employees, pensioners and elderly citizens who had queued for drawing salary and paying utility bills.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 2: President Obama telephoned his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai on Monday, hours after he was declared president for the next five years. The White House said it was not a congratulatory call, but recognition of Mr Karzai as a legitimate leader of his country and an expression of US willingness to work with him. Afghanistan’s election commission proclaimed Karzai the victor of the country’s tumultuous ballot on Monday, cancelling a planned runoff and ending a political crisis two and a half months after a fraud-marred first round.
WARSAW, Nov. 2: Hindus praised the EU after it gave €270,0000 to the University of Warsaw to establish a Contemporary India Studies Centre, in what is believed to be the first research centre of its kind in central Europe. The India Studies Centre's faculty will include scholars from Europe and India and will promote cooperation between Europe and India.
