Egypt: Tanks Crush Christian Protestors

The Arab Spring appears in danger of giving way to a sectarian fall in Egypt, where at least 25 people were killed over the weekend as the military crushed demonstrations by Coptic Christians.

Reuters reports that armored vehicles careened into crowds Sunday night to break up the protests by the Christians, who make up about 10 percent of the country’s population. The demonstrators were angry about the destruction of a church last week, which they blamed on Muslim extremists. The army’s response, which left corpses mangled by tank wheels and more than 250 people hospitalized, appeared likely to deepen the rift. The violence was the worst since the revolution in February.

“This is a huge crisis that could end in a civil clash. It could end in dire consequences,” presidential hopeful Amr Moussa said, according to Reuters. “An immediate investigation committee must be formed, with immediate results.”

Muslim extremists in Egypt are destroying Coptic Christian Churches because they don't like Christians. To add fuel to the fire, Egyptian police tend to "look the other way" and fail to take action against these Muslim criminals. Coptic Christians find this lack of police action to be prejudicial.

It is time for the Egyptian police to arrest these criminals -- even if they are Muslims -- in order for peace to be restored in Egypt.
