Quote of the Week - G.K. Chesterton

"There is no such thing on earth as an uninteresting subject; the only thing that can exist is an uninterested person. Nothing is more keenly required than a defence of bores. When Byron divided humanity into the bores and bored, he omitted to notice that the higher qualities exist entirely in the bores, the lower qualities in the bored, among whom he counted himself."--G.K. Chesterton (Heretics, p. 38)

People who are bored usually have little or no interest in learning about a topic being conveyed.

On the other hand, bores are people who tend to convey a topic in such a way as to "turn people off," thus failing to motivate people to take a genuine interest in their presentation.

I've known both types, George. My father used to say, "It is a sin to bore people." He thought that Christians should be the most fascinating and adventurous people in the world.
