TTP Claims Khost Bombing

LADDAH: The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility for the Dec 30 suicide attack on the Khost airbase in Afghanistan which left seven CIA officials dead.

Qari Hussain, the ‘commander’ of TTP’s suicide squad and spokesman of Hakimullah Mehsud, told Dawn on telephone from an unspecified place in South Waziristan that the attack on the US base had been carried out by his organisation to avenge the killing of Baitullah Mehsud.

Qari said the Taliban would soon release the video footage of the Khost attack, adding that it was carried out by Abu Dojana Khurasani.

Qari claimed that Abu Dojana had been hired by CIA to attack the TTP leaders in Pakistan. But when he came to Waziristan, he established contacts with the TTP leadership and pledged allegiance to Hakimullah Mehsud.

He said more attacks would be carried out in Afghanistan and Pakistan to avenge Baitullah’s killing.

Mohammad Rafiq Farooqi, another TTP leader based in Kurram Agency, called this correspondent and said that Taliban had decided to intensify attacks in Pakistan.

He warned Chamkani, Musazai, Alisherzai, Zumasht, Bangash, Mangal and Maqbal tribesmen of attacks if they continued to work for Frontier Corps, police and other security agencies.
