McCain, Obama Missing the Big Picture

Are the candidates for President so busy blaming others for America's energy problems and playing for votes that they are missing the big picture?

Have they forgotten the Monroe Doctrine? Or does it not matter that Russia, cooperating with France, is constructing a missile launch pad in French Guiana from which a Soyuz carrier rocket will lift off in 2009?

Have McCain and Obama even noticed the escalating Russia-USA rhetoric over missiles, missile defense and Putin's talk of renewed alliance with Cuba so that island can be used to refuel Russian bombers?

Perhaps their silence on these matters represents a media slant. The media has its favorite "bait" issues and relations with Russia isn't one of them. But given the importance of security at this time in US history reporters might want to ask the candidates a few questions about these matters.
